1. Policy Statement

We are committed to providing continuous learning and development opportunities that enhance individual and team performance, support business growth, and ensure compliance with relevant UK regulations and industry standards.


2. Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to:

  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement

  • Ensure employees have the knowledge and skills required to perform their roles effectively

  • Support career progression and employee engagement

  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, data protection, and other legal requirements


3. Scope

This policy applies to:

  • All permanent and temporary employees

  • Apprentices, interns, and trainees

  • Line managers and team leaders

  • New recruits during induction


4. Types of Training

Training and development at Supplies4lyfe may include:

a. Induction Training

  • Provided to all new employees to familiarise them with the company’s operations, values, and health & safety procedures.

b. Job-Specific Training

  • Focused on the technical, operational, or customer service skills required for each role.

c. Health & Safety Training

  • Includes mandatory training in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.

d. Compliance Training

  • Covers GDPR, Anti-Bribery, Equality & Diversity, and other legal obligations.

e. Personal Development

  • Soft skills training such as communication, time management, teamwork, and leadership.

f. Managerial & Leadership Training

  • For supervisors and managers to strengthen leadership and team management skills.


5. Training Responsibilities

a. Management

  • Identify training needs through performance reviews, feedback, and business changes.

  • Allocate time and resources for staff development.

b. HR Department

  • Develop, coordinate, and record training activities.

  • Ensure compliance with mandatory training requirements.

c. Employees

  • Take ownership of their own development.

  • Attend scheduled training sessions and apply learned skills in the workplace.


6. Training Needs Assessment

Training needs are identified through:

  • Annual performance appraisals

  • Skills gap analysis

  • Changes in legislation or company policy

  • Employee requests for professional development


7. Training Delivery

Training may be delivered through:

  • In-house sessions or workshops

  • Online e-learning platforms

  • Accredited external providers or consultants

  • Mentoring or coaching programmes

  • On-the-job training


8. Records & Evaluation

  • All training activities will be recorded in the employee’s training record.

  • Training outcomes will be reviewed regularly to ensure effectiveness and continuous improvement.


9. Funding & Support

  • Supplies4lyfe will cover the cost of approved internal or external training programmes.

  • Employees may be asked to sign a training agreement for high-cost qualifications.

  • Time off for training will be granted in line with business needs and employment contracts.


10. Equal Opportunities

  • Training opportunities will be provided fairly and without discrimination.

  • Reasonable adjustments will be made to support employees with disabilities or other needs.


11. Policy Review

This policy will be reviewed annually and updated in line with changes in legislation, company goals, or workforce needs.
